New aidinfo case studies on users' experiences of accessing aid data
We have been working on a series of ‘use cases’ to gain an in-depth understanding of the information needs of different types of users. As far as we know, this is the first systematic effort to identify the various needs of users of aid information. The studies look at three partner countries (Rwanda, Malawi and Cambodia), a think tank (ODI), and a research institute (IHME). The final study summarises the findings of research in four communities in Nicaragua to find out what local people know about aid projects in their communities. Summaries of these seven studies are now available on our case studies page.
We have also written a synthesis paper which identifies common themes emerging from our case study work, such as the need for more timely data and information on future flows. We will be taking these findings to the IATI conference in the Netherlands next week. We would really like to hear what you think about these studies – do you have similar or different experiences of trying to access aid data. Would you like us to work with you to document the issues that you face? Use our contact
page to get in touch if you would like to share your experiences.
