Case Studies

We are developing case studies to document the specific aid information needs of different groups of users such as government departments, NGOs, sectoral organisations, citizen organisations and advocacy organisations and if the participants are willing, we are hoping to share those experiences on these pages. We are interested in what users want and why. How do they use aid information and how do they get it? What problems do they have trying to get the aid information they need? What could they do with better data?

You can read summaries of each of these case studies (Rwanda, Malawi, IHME, Cambodia, WaterAid, Overseas Development Institute, Nicaragua) and a synthesis paper which identifies common themes emerging from our case study work. Full reports are available for the Rwanda, Malawi and IHME studies and full versions of the other studies will be available shortly. As part of our work to understand users’ needs we have recently conducted a scoping exercise to map key Southern CSO institutions, initiatives and opportunities related to aid information. The findings of this study are synthesised in a draft paper.

If you can help us with this research, we would like to hear from you. For example, if you currently use aid information, or would like to but are unable to access it, we could document this. If you work in a donor agency and have ideas for how aid information could be more accessible, we would like to hear from you.
